She enjoys reading, cooking, and dabbles (at a very amateur level) in gardening. Giles Presbyterian Church.Д®sther is married to Alvin and they have 2 daughters. She is currently the Choir Director and Church Musician for St. She also frequently accompanies singers and other instrumentalists in performances around the city. In addition to these experiences, she has played for numerous choirs in the city, taught music courses at Rocky Mountain College, was Dean of Music at a small Bible college she helped to found, and began teaching private lessons in piano, voice and theory (which she does to this day). She has also had 2 stints directing the Junior choir, during the 2000s and 2010s. That same year she first met Marni Strome (past Artistic Director for CCC), when she was hired as accompanist for the Calgary ChildrenвЂ™s Choir, a position she held for 9 years. She also received her ARCT in Piano Performance in 1991. At 16 she also did the first of five 3-month tours with The Continentals, a gospel touring choir organization that traveled all over the US, Canada and Europe.ДЄfter her 2 ndВ tour (during which she wrote her Grade 12 final exams on the road!), she started post-secondary studies at University of Calgary, graduating with her BMus in 1993. Since then she has been busily adding to her list of musical involvements, playing for church services by age 14, and church choirs by age 16. ThatвЂ™s also the age she started piano lessons.

There is never enough time in the day!Д®sther Woelfle is almost a Calgary native, having come to Calgary when she was 6 years old.

Laura loves to sing and is looking forward to some group singing again this fall as singing with the tunes in the car doesnвЂ™t quite cut it!! Other pursuits include spending time with family, friends and the 2 family dogs, skiing, gardening and reading. When not at choir, Laura loves her work with Alberta Health Services as a Registered Nurse with Public Health. Having been involved as a choir parent and volunteer for the past ten years, Laura has lots of experience including chaperoning choir camps and choir tours (Ottawa 2015, Italy 2017 and Prague/Germany 2019), coordinating casino fundraisers and serving on the board of directors (Vice-president 2015-2019, President 2019-2021). She is a proud choir mom to long-time chorister Sasha and has thoroughly enjoyed the many concerts and events put on by outgoing Linda White and Marni Strome.

Outside the world of music, she likes birding, gardening, reading and biking.Laura is honoured to be the incoming business manager of the Calgary ChildrenвЂ™s Choir. They are the happy parents of three adult children. LaDona lives in Calgary with her husband. Most students end up pursuing other career options, but they continue to enjoy a life-long appreciation of good music and the ability to express themselves by making music. Some students have continued to pursue a career in music. Her students have won numerous awards and scholarships over the years for excellence in piano performance and theory exams. Her primary focus is her private studio in Calgary where she teaches piano and theory at all levels to students of all ages. She is a teacher, conservatory examiner, adjudicator, accompanist, writer, and page-turner for Honens. LaDona serves on the Executive of the Alberta Registered Music TeachersвЂ™ Association (Calgary) and is active in the Alberta Piano TeachersвЂ™ Association and the Music Coterie in Calgary. She also free-lanced as an accompanist for other instrumentalists, choirs, and vocalists, and built up a private piano teaching studio. This gave her the opportunity to learn from many world-class musicians in a masterclass setting. LaDona moved back to Calgary after her studies in Vancouver and worked as an accompanist in the Academy for Gifted Youth program at Mount Royal Conservatory. She was the recipient of numerous scholarships and medals, including the Louise McKinney Scholarship and the Tom and Miggsie Lawson National TeachersвЂ™ Travel & Study Scholarship (Conservatory Canada, 2006). She studied the piano with Dale Jackson and Kum-Sing Lee and the pipe organ with John Searchfield. from UBC and an ARCT Diploma in Piano Performance.
